Lyrics:
While the world looks upon me, as I struggle alone
They say I have nothing, but they are so wrong
In my heart I'm rejoicing, how I wish they could see
Thank you Lord, for your blessings on me
There's a roof up above me
I've a good place to sleep
There's food on my table and shoes on my feet
You gave me your love Lord and a fine family
Thank you Lord, for your blessings on me
I know I'm not wealthy, and these clothes, they're not new
I don't have much money, but Lord I have you
That's all that matters, though the world may not see
Thank you Lord, for your blessings on me
There's a roof up above me
I've a good place to sleep
There's food on my table and shoes on my feet
You gave me your love Lord and a fine family
Thank you Lord, for your blessings on me (REPEAT)

This opera depicts the story of Switzerland's legendary founding fathers and a courageous 13th century folk hero, Wilhelm Tell, who symbolized the struggle for political and individual freedom. According to legend, Tell was forced to shoot an apple from his son's head after refusing to pay homage to a Hapsburg liege. His courage and famed marksmanship launched an uprising that brought the Swiss independence from the Hapsburg dynasty.
This recording is part of a music article performed by the Orchestra and Chorus of Rome's Academia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. It was conducted by the world's leading opera conductor Sir Antonio Pappano, who is also the Music Director of the Royal Opera House. It features Canadian baritone Gerald Finley, American tenor John Osborn and sopranos Malin Byström and Marie-Nicole Lemieux.
